All workers are at risk for work-related injuries

Workplace accidents continue to happen. Many workers don't think about the risks they face in the workplace but maybe they should. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that roughly three million workers suffer from workplace injuries and illnesses in the United States every year.

The industries with the highest rate of work-related accidents are the oil and gas industry, the construction industry and the health care industry. All workers should be aware of the hazards in the workplace, and employers need to take steps to ensure all workers are protected.

Workers can face a variety of injuries, especially depending on the industry they work in and their specific job duties. Construction workers have a high risk for being injured in falls or injuries caused by equipment while health care workers have a high risk for back injuries and other ergonomic injuries caused by lifting and caring for patients.

Even workers in office settings are at risk for suffering injuries due to their job duties. Office workers in the private and government sector are at risk for sprains and strains that can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome and other musculoskeletal disorders due to the repetitive nature of their job duties.

Employees need to be aware of the risks they face in the workplace as well as their right to file a workers' compensation claim if they are injured. Workers' compensation benefits in Ohio can help pay for lost wages and medical expenses. However, filing a claim can be complex.

To ensure your claim is filed properly and according to state rules and guidelines, it is beneficial to work with a skilled workers' compensation attorney.
