Permanent disability hazards identified at Ohio factory

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says thousands of workers nationwide, including in Ohio, are exposed to the hazards of working machine parts every day. If company owners fail to comply with safety regulations related to the dangers posed by unguarded machines, workers can suffer injuries that may lead to permanent disability. OSHA identified an Ohio company as one of those at which employees may be at risk of amputation injuries.

Safety violation leads to criminal charges after worker's death

When a worker's death appears to have been caused by the egregious fault of the employer, company owners could be criminally charged. A grand jury indicted an Ohio company and two of its managers on a recent Friday. The case relates to a safety violation that allegedly claimed the life of a worker in 2012.

Could a safety violation have caused death of Ohio Honda worker?

Company owners in Ohio and nationwide must provide safe work environments. Safety training is required to keep both permanent and contract workers informed of the multiple safety hazards, such as those posed by forklifts and other mechanical or electronic transport equipment. Following the recent death of a contract worker at the Ohio-based Honda facility, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration launched an investigation to determine whether the fatality was caused by a safety violation.

Workers' claims denied for permanent impairment due to radiation

The workers' compensation insurance system provides financial relief for Ohio workers who have suffered on-the-job injuries or illnesses. Unfortunately, many occupational diseases develop over time after workers have been exposed to toxic chemicals, radiation and more. Such conditions may have caused permanent impairment, and these claims are often complex because proving the illnesses are work-related can be difficult.
