Permanent disability: A fall harness can cause suspension trauma

A significant percentage of accidents at Ohio workplaces involve falls. Not providing a worker with the required fall protection is a serious safety violation, even if no accident occurs. However, the same personal protective equipment that can arrest a fall can cause severe damage to a worker. Depending on the efficiency of the protection provided, a fall accident can even cause temporary or permanent disability.

Finger amputation leads to two investigations in 4 months

Ohio workers have the right to report unsafe workplace environments. The health and well-being of employees should not be compromised by company owners who prioritize profits over workers' safety. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently completed a second inspection at an industrial company in Cleveland -- the first of which involved an amputation injury.

Aqua Ohio cited for safety violation that killed trench worker

Ohio's sole provider of water, Aqua Ohio, is facing a proposed penalty of $45,000 after an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was completed. The penalty relates to a safety violation that resulted in a preventable fatality on March 29. The incident claimed the life of a member of a crew that was relocating a water line.

Ohio company fails to rectify amputation injury hazards

Workers of Ohio companies at which workplace accidents occur at regular intervals will naturally be concerned about safety in the workplace. Although declared unacceptable, some business owners continue to expose their employees to unguarded machines even after amputation injuries occur. A manufacturing company in Toledo was recently cited for similar violations by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for the third time in five years.
